hrough letterpress prints, artist books and installation art, my work explores the complex composition of the inner self. It combines the biological and cultural identities of the self, referencing the Hebrew alphabet, cells and D.N.A. I find visual and conceptual connections between these identities through the use of cellular imagery and the letters of the Hebrew alphabet. Inspiration stems from my strong connection to my Jewish heritage and fascination with the human anatomy. According to the Jewish mystical tradition, the Hebrew letters are the building blocks of creation. They are analogous to physical elements. From a biological perspective, the cells are the basic building blocks of man. Through my art, I find relationships between these two fundamental elements of existence.

use century’s old lead and wood type in my work to carry on the history of letterpress printing. Custom-made wooden matrices allow for me to print in unconventional ways, creating curvilinear methods to printing. I also use photopolymer plates, created through a photographic process that enables me to transfer an image to a printing surface.
